The Real Me - My Journey

I understand the hopelessness of watching a loved one self-destruct through addiction or risky behaviors because I survived the experience with our son. I also know the life-changing experience of finding hope through a daily relationship with Jesus.

My discovery of Jeremiah 30 and 31 led me to write Praying for Your Addicted Loved One: 90 in 90, a devotional for families loving an addict. In it I share our family’s journey to recovery and hope through daily scriptures, devotional thoughts and prayers.

A second book, Hope Hooks: Where Do I Hang My Hope? is in the works. This project is a 365-day prayer journal punctuated with real-life stories of how challenges were overcome through the power of God’s Word, our hope hooks.

I have been published in Guideposts Magazine, Chicken Soup for the Soul and Love Is a Verb, a devotional compilation by Dr. Gary Chapman. Max Lucado produced a Salvation Army edition of his popular book You’ll Get Through This which includes my story, “Crumbs of Hope.” I also write for a regional newspaper.

Not only do I write about hope, I speak on the subject too. With my soft-spoken southern charm and humor, I can easily connect with my audience. A list of my current speaking topics can be found at my Speaking web page.

I'm a member of Word Weavers International and the Brandon Christian Writers Group. I am also a graduate of She Speaks, sponsored by Proverbs 31 Ministries, and Christian Communicators Conference. Honestly, I'm a writers’ conference junkie since I attend as many as possible.

Dan and I recently embarked on a new adventure—travel trailer camping. A city girl from head to toe, I’m ready to step outside my comfort zone and see the country, one campsite at a time.

If all else fails, a bowl of salsa and chips will make any day brighter. Throw in a few pieces of dark chocolate, and I’m ready to take on the world.

I’d love the opportunity to share with your women’s ministry at luncheons, weekend retreats or other settings. Civic and professional groups will benefit from my presentations as well. Contact me via the Connect tab to explore a date and topic for your event.
